SteaksOne of the easiest things to do is to over cook an expensive steak. But it's also very easy to cook it just to your liking. Use the chart below to figure out the best cooking conditions and times to get the best results.

The Steak Cooking Chart is based on grilling with charcoal. When using a gas grill, you can use the same chart as a guide. In addition, you may want to consult the owner's manual that came with your grill.

Let Color Be Your Guide
Learn to judge the doneness of steaks and chops by referring to the visual color checks below. Start by making a small slit near the bone. For boneless cuts of meat, make a slit near the center.
  • Medium-rare(145°): meat is pink in the center with very outer poet ion brown - not recommended for pork or pork chops.
  • Medium (160°): meat is light pink in the center with brown outer portion.
  • Well-done (180°): meat is brown throughout with no pink color remaining.
